PFLUGERVILLE, Texas – A middle school teacher in Texas now not works there after a comment he made at school expressing his race was superior to a different.

The teacher, who worked within the northern Austin suburb of Pflugerville, has not been publicly identified by officials.

The Bohls Middle School teacher, drew outrage from parents and community members over an announcement, captured by students on video, that he was “ethnocentric,” which meant he thought his “race is the superior one,” after the videos were shared on social media Friday.

The district announced in an announcement Monday morning that the teacher was now not employed by Pflugerville schools but didn’t say whether the educator had been fired or had resigned. The district is in search of a alternative.

The conversation was inappropriate, Superintendent Douglas Killian said within the statement.

“We would like to reiterate that this conversation doesn’t align with our core beliefs and just isn’t a mirrored image of our district or our culture at Bohls Middle School,” Killian said. “The advisory discussion was inappropriate, inaccurate and unacceptable.”

The district has notor provided more specifics in regards to the context of the comments.
