Elon Musk made fun of Senator Ed Markey, D-Mass., On Twitter after the Democrat demanded an explanation as to why a Washington Post reporter managed to create a verified account by impersonating him.
“AND @WashingtonPost the reporter managed to create a verified account impersonating me – please reply from @elonmusk who puts profits over people and his debt over containment of disinformation, ”Markey wrote on Friday with a screenshot of his letter to Musk on the matter. “Twitter needs to explain how this happened and how to prevent it.”
In his letter, Markey said the reporter was able to create a fake account and verify himself by paying $ 8 under Musk’s new rules. The senator criticized the new trial as “loose” and “unacceptable.”

Musk, the billionaire tech mogul who recently bought Twitter, responded on Sunday, suggesting that the reason someone impersonated Markey’s account is because his real “sounds like a parody.”
Musk asked why Markey’s profile picture showed he was wearing a mask.

Several experts and progressives blew Musk away for a retort.
“He’s an elected official with voters,” former Ohio Democrat Senator Nina Turner tweeted, “This isn’t a game, dude.”
“It’s always risky to attack members of congress. Particularly risky when Dems is under assured power in the Senate.

CNN Senior Political Analyst Ronald Brownstein echoed the opinion of many liberal pundits that Musk appears to be on a “right-wing” crusade.
“For as little as $ 8 a month, you can support the lifestyle of a South African billionaire who uses his newly purchased platform to taunt Democrats in the US Congress,” said Keith Boykin.
Musk made some major changes to the social media platform, including the dismissal of several top management including CEO Paraga Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and Head of Legal Policy, Trust and Security Vijayi Gadde. Users can now purchase the verification for $ 8 per month.

In his letter, Markey requested details about the “process” for issuing paid verifications with a blue checkmark, how it differed from the free verification process preceding it, and how a particular Washington Post reporter was able to obtain a fake account verification.
The senator also hit Musk in another tweet.
“One of your companies is subject to the FTC Decree,” Markey said. “NHTSA’s car safety guard is investigating the killing of people. And you spend your time organizing fights on the Internet.
