Gaming giants Riot Games and Ubisoft will not be fooling around—they’ve partnered for a latest research project to censor supposed “toxicity” in gaming chats. It’s nothing latest for giant technology corporations, aside from the undeniable fact that Riot is owned by a conglomerate in China—which is notorious for authoritarian tech censorship.
Ubisoft and Riot, which is owned by a Chinese conglomerate, are teamed up for the “Zero Harm in Comms” project, based on Reclaim The Net. The brand new project attempts to make a system using “natural language” to find out what an announcement’s “general meaning” is as a substitute of using an inventory of words or “dictionary-based technologies” to flag messages, Reclaim The Net cIted Ubisoft executive director Yves Jacquier.
The project’s first phase will develop a framework that enables platforms to “collect, share, and tag data without compromising user privacy by keeping personally identifiable information.” But when that seems to be unimaginable, Ubisoft executive director Yves Jacquier said “the project stops.”
Provided that the primary phase is completed, the project’s second phase will reportedly use “AI-based tools” to detect after which to mitigate alleged “disruptive behaviors.”
