Former Freedom President Caucus Andy Biggs (R-AZ) is expected to launch a leadership challenge against Kevin McCarthy.
Republicans are expected to vote for leadership positions on Tuesday, despite Democrats working to steal the House.

Former Speaker of the House of Freedom Club Andy Biggs (R-AZ) is likely to go against minority leader in the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to become the next speaker in the House if Republicans lock a majority in the lower house, member of the House of Representatives powerful conservative group confirmed in sunday.

Biggs was critical of McCarthy’s minority leadership, expressing concerns that the Californian Republican would not prioritize issues important to the party’s far-right flank. CNN announced for the first time that Biggs would be bidding for McCarthy.
“I think we need to have a real discussion about whether or not he should be a speaker,” Biggs told reporters on Thursday.
“I think his statement that we should not accuse Secretary Mayorkas indicates that we may not be as aggressive as we should. I think we need to have a very positive statement about what we are going to achieve and do, and I haven’t seen it yet, ”he added. “This is – I think these are things we should talk very honestly about internally about where we are going to go forward.”
Republicans may regain the House of Representatives after a weak performance in the 2022 midterm elections.
