Deputies shoot, kill man in Southern California

A minimum of one Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy opened fire on a person in Santa Clarita Wednesday night, fatally shooting him.

Deputies responded to the world near Island Road and Bridgeport Lane for a burglary in progress, with the shooting reported at about 10:25 p.m., in response to the LASD.

The person was armed with two knives and lunged at deputies, who then opened fire, in response to Lt. Patricia Thomas and a news release from the LASD. The knives were recovered on the scene, officials added.

It stays to be seen if the person who was shot was the alleged burglar deputies were in search of, Thomas added.

The person was reported dead on the scene. No deputies were injured.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the LASD’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
